Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts
Could I sue Verizon. My wife runs a daycare out of our home in MA. We have verizon triple play with verizon voicemail on our home phone. Over the course of the last month the voicemail system appeared to be operational and was indicating that we had no new messages. Last week it stopped working all together. I called Verizon to learn that they had changed our voicemail service to digitial voice (without my knowledge or permission, which I have been lead to belive is required). When I entered the new number and pin I found 20 missed voicemails that we had recieved during the period that our old voicemail service was telling us there were nonoe. One message was from a woman looking for full-time daycare services from my wife. The fee charged for the services would be 300 per week totaling 15k over the next year. We had no chance of getting this business because this person had found services elsewhere in the 3.5 weeks this message sat undettected. I have called verizon on this. They barely offered and appology. Is there anything that I can do?
