Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts
Unsolicited goods
I go to a gas station and order $20 worth of gasoline. The owner of the gas station leaves the pump in my car and neglects to turn it off after the requested amount of gasoline is transferred. I am only able to stop it after $30-worth has been transferred. Do I have to pay $20 or $30?

Re: Unsolicited goods
You pay $30, because you will use the gas. While you did not ask for this, you would face a police inquiry if you drove off without paying. In the world of he-said/she-said as applied to high gasoline prices, the police will tell you, "Pay or go to Court."
In the future, use self-serve.
