Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

I was a usps employee and at my office they used to throw away bulk mail in the dumpsters out in back of our office and it's still happening and I know it happens at other offices as well. These companies that are paying for this service are essentially getting ripped off by the usps. Could I go to these companies and inform them of this?

As I'm sure you know, disposing of another person's mail is a federal offense. So there's that. But even beyond the criminal penalties, I'm sure these companies would like to know what's going on and possibly sue in civil court. If you wish to say something to the companies, I would do two things: first, I would consult with a lawyer who can review your old employment contract to make sure you are not opening yourself up to potential liability; and second, I would research exactly who the contact person would be at each company regarding these issues. If you speak to the wrong person, they may simply not care and the information may never reach the person who does.

Good luck!
