Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

Does a witness have to talk to anyone?

The defense in a local civil matter has subpoenaed me to testify for them (against my will - long story).

Now the prosecution is calling e asking me why the defense has subpoenaed me.

Am I obliged to talk to the prosecution and tell them why the defense has called me and what I will testify on?

Re: Does a witness have to talk to anyone?

Assuming this is in fact a civil trial and not criminal, the answer is no, you are not required to do anything other than appear on the day and time commanded on the subpoena and tell the truth at that time. Nothing more.
