Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts

confuse about right for "green card"

I got married in 12/94, with a woman that we've been together since 1989. We have a 7 years old son. I am in the process to send the paperwork so can they adjust my status for permanent resident. My temporay green card will expire 6/24/98 so I will be sending my papers to emigration sometimes after March 24 1998. My problem is my wife is doing everything she can to make sure I dont get my permanent green card. She recently moved out of the house and found her own apartment, she attacks me phisycally whenever she feels like , and she threat me she will not sign the I751 for permanent status and she will refuse to go to any interview at the imigration if she is called upon. Just recently she filled for divorce figuring that will destroy all my chances for a green card. Iam very desperate because I suffered for so long and I cant afford a lawer in this crucial moment. Please answer me and tell me what to do. I have most of the papers necessary for the imigration including life insurance, income tax, jointly bills etc, in a safe place. Thank you in advance

removal of conditional residence

I strongly suggest you find the money for a lawyer ASAP. So long as you married in good faith & can prove it which you indicate you can, if the marriage has terminated, you can filed a waiver of the requirement to file a joint petition & file the I-751 alone. You may also have a case for a battered spouse waiver. The divorce may be a blessing in disguise so long as the grounds aren't damaging to you immigration case. If you can't find money for a lawyer,I suggest you try legal aid.
