Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts

F1 getting married to PR

I am an F1 student who wants to get married to a permanent resident. I've been told that if I keep my last name after the marriage, I won't have to file for a new F1, but what if I take his name? Right now, I have indicated on the marriage license that I was planning on taking his last name after we get married. Does that mean that I would I have to file for a new F1?

You would need to amend your current F-1 to document the name change. Or, you could go ahead and apply for permanent residency.
