Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts
Illegal immigrant
I've been with my boyfriend for 1 year and 2 months. He's been here for about 3 years but he entered the U.S. illegally. He wants to fix his papers, he already has his mexican passport, but I dont really trust his lawyer...we dont know what to do or where to start. He has never been in trouble with the law in Mexico or the United States, he doesn't have any fake documents like; license, social security nothing, He's really calm and says that he wants to do things right...but what does he have to do? Can he fix it from here? Will he get in trouble? Does he have to leave? Can we get married? What are the steps that we have to take before getting married? Can I just go to City Hall and get married to him or does he need to fix everything first? I want to know because I'm really scared about the whole situation, we really do love each other. I just dont want him to get in trouble. If he does have to leave how long will it take? Will I get in trouble?
I just want to know because Im really frightened about the whole situation and I want to understand more.
Thank You & God Bless

Re: Illegal immigrant
If he entered illegally and no one ever filed an immigration petition for him in the past, you may get married in the U.S. but he'll eventually need to go back to Mexico (Ciudad Juarez) for his green card interview in conjunction with a waiver application for his unlawful presence in the U.S.
