Legal Question in Immigration Law in Massachusetts
Work in the US
I used to live in the US where I had a diplomatic visa and worked for a major media company in NYC. Now I have a reqular tourist visa and am working in Europe.
My brother is a US citizen. I want to move to the USA and work there as soon as possible.
What is the quickest way to do so?
Thank you for your help

Re: Work in the US
As you can read from previous postings, the answer to your question is not as cut-and-dried as you may think. In most cases like yours, it pays off to plan a course of action to obtain immediate employment/admission to the U.S. on a temporary basis without jeopardizing your chances of a more permanent solution.
This may be accomplished in several ways, including B-1/B-2 entry and then change of status, H1-B employment, and several other options depending on your employment opportunities, skills, and national origin.
This is where hiring a skilled immigration lawyer will pay off in spades, rather than just flying by the seat of your pants. If you are interested in a consultation, please contact my office and I will do my best to analyze the options available to you.

Re: Work in the US
You may consider seeking an H-1B visa, good for short-term (up to 6 years) professional employment. This visa does require that you find an appropriate job offer first, as the interested employer must file the visa petition.
You may also wish to have your brother file an immigrant visa petition on your behalf. This petition would not be of immediate assistance to you, as it will be many many years before a visa will become available to you based upon your brother's status. However, that time will pass regardless of whether he files the petition or not, and it is generally worth filing.
Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. There may be other options available to you based upon your background and qualifications.
Best wishes.
Re: Work in the US
Your best option is the H-1B petition which can be filed here in the US and issued at the european consulate. You may enter on the H visa and start working immediately as long as you have a job offer and an employer willing to hire you as a nonimmigrant.
It appears you also have an immigrant petition option but this will take several years to be approved.
