Legal Question in Insurance Law in Massachusetts
Insurance Settlement
A settlement was made between my husband and the insurance company over a motor vehicle accident. Now the insurance company will not release the settlement unless I (as spouse) sign a release which states that I will not go back and sue after the settlement. Since the insurance, the motor vehicle and the settlement is in my husband's name only, why should I be required to sign this release?

Re: Insurance Settlement
Hello:
I would suspect that the ins. co. does not want you to sue them or their insured for any type of loss consortium claim you may have or may later have stemming for your husband's injuries following the accident.
