Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Massachusetts

Hello I have a question related to copyright law,

What can be done if a business owner is aware that as he or she is writing a book, developing trade secrets and intellectual property, a group of people are stealing that information in real-time? Essentially, it seems that they are trying to somehow illegally say that the work is theirs after stealing it (then they would sell it on the respective markets at the same time). Furthermore, they are using outlawed technologies to steal this information. What if law enforcement is involved and simply chooses to not do anything about it.

Thanks,

Emmanuel C. A. C Flint

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say the following. If law enforcement does not do anything, they're not involved. If you can prove theft of information that is truly trade secret in nature, you can sue. You talk about a book, trade secrets and intellectual property in the same sentence without providing any detail. You really need to consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.

You might be able to send a "cease and desist" demand, preferably from an attorney, threatening litigation and penalties under applicable statutes. More info is necessary to better assess.
