Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

i a 65 years old and was terminated from my employment on 8/6/2010. i have been under medical care since may 2010 that my employer was told about for a condition that had effected my job performence in the past, on 8/6/2010 my employer terminated my employment and told me that the work i performed on the computer on 8/1/2010 was flawless but that she was letting me go because of past mistakes. i have been told that under the law the termination should have been in writing and was not and that i may have been discriminated against under the american disibility's act, are these two yhings true? thanks fran
