Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
Botched Reviews
I work for a major, international clothing company. We are reviewd every year, in July. There is an optional self-assessment, and then an assessment by your *supervisor* (manager)and then those are averaged. must receive over a 2.5 to get a raise.
While i had my review today, my manager proceeds to tell me she is ''sorry'' that no one is getting a raise because our corporate puppet of a district manager told her how to rate each of us to keep us below the 2.5 mark. no matter how high (or low) we rated ourselves, and no matter if our manager thought we deserved higher, there was no compromise because corporate was not giving us raises this year. and this is a company who touts themselves as ''employee friendly''. should i go to the attorney general? what can i do? i have worked for this company for 3 years, and have gotten one, 25-cent raise during those 3 years, no bonuses. i am one of the most well trained staff members in our store (including our managerial staff who hasn't even been with us for a full year).

Re: Botched Reviews
The employee handbook might control this situation. Review and see if this issue is covered. If not, as an at will employee you ahve no recourse.
