Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
My company closed my office/warehouse localted in West Springfield, MA in the middle of June. I then was told that I have to drive 98 miles 1 way to our office/warehouse located in Dedham, Ma. I have a company ven and a company gas card and was told that I had to be at the warehouse by 10am. I have to leave my house at 8am to arrive ontime. Today, I was informed that i am supposed to leave my house at 8am but would not be paid until 9am and that the first hour was to be considered as commute time. This is all of a sudden after over 2 and a half months of being in this situation. Is this legal what they are trying to do?

If your employer wanted to, it need only pay you from the time you arrive at work, which is 10:00. Commuting time is not compensable.
