Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Contract Termination

I have been asked to resign or face termination of my contract. I have recieved no warning, written or verbal, that my job was in danger until the week before my ''deadline'' to resign or be fired. I am contracted as a teacher at a private school governed by Massachusetts Law. We have no union. Can they end my contract without written warning?

Re: Contract Termination

It's very difficult to describe the rights one might have under a contract without reviewing the contract itself. For example, many contracts spell out that contracts can be terminated "for cause" and then define what "for cause" is. Also, contracts may also have provisions for resignations, etc. I would also need more facts as to the reasons why they claim they are terminating your contract.
