Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
Right to the copy of a complaint letter
I work in Connecticut for a company headquartered in Mass. Recently I was told that the wife of one of my employees sent a 3-page letter to the CEO and falsely accused me of mistreating this employee. (I just reprimanded this employee for not doing his job and frequent absence from work without any notice.)Do I have any legal rights to request the copy of this letter? Human Resources Dept has a copy.
Thank you for your reply in advance.

If this letter has been placed in your personnel file, you can get a copy. By statute, you are entitled to a copy of your personnel file.
