Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Denial of Pay

Is it lawful for my employer to deny pay to me simply on the grounds that my time sheet was not signed properly or is inaccurate in some other way? i.e. even though the totals of hours worked are accurately listed, can I be denied pay because I failed to place either a.m. or p.m. next to the times?

Re: Denial of Pay

No, it's not lawful. You must be paid for all hours actually worked. If your employer has withheld wages rightfully earned, you should file a complaint with the Mass. Attorney General's Office - Division of Fair Labor and Business Practices.

No. Call the Wage and Hur Administration at the Attorney General's Office and they will advise you how to proceed.
