Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
A former employee who was laid off, is demanding severence. We have agreed to meet to discuss this request in person. Should we have someone unrelated to the company there as a witness to the meeting?

You should have a lawyer. They can act as witness and give you sound legal advice at the same time!
