Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Final paycheck, returning property.

I was asked not to return to work, and now that i am to recieve my final paycheck my boss has said i cannot have it until i return my key to work (which i understand) and also a lot of intangible property regarding technology like passwords and information on the company website. Is this legal? 1. there is not policies or handbooks due to it being a small family run business- so returning of property was never addressed.

It is against the law to hold my paycheck correct? i believe 7 days?
