Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
Hello all, I have an interesting situation and I am wondering if I am legally entitled to anything. This is my first time asking any questions like this so I'm sorry if any information is missing.
First with a little background information:
I was fired from my job fixing computers in May. I was fired because I "broke a customer's laptop", which was untrue, the customer brought it in broken. I was also accused of being a liar and that I tried to "cover up" my mistake. I know this to be untrue, though I have no real proof, somehow the notes I entered into our systems were erased from records that specifically stated that the machine was broken and would not power on when i received the machine to repair.
Now company policy at said workplace is that all technicians repairing customer computers must have COMP TIA A+ Certification. When I started working there they had me study and I was supposed to take the test within the first 3 months, but my manager neglected to sign me up for it even though I was there for almost 7 months. The certification was supposed to be funded by the store so it would not cost me a dime to obtain it. Now I am looking for a good paying tech job and they all require COMP TIA A+ certification...
My questions are: Is there any legal way to make them pay for the testing? and Is there anything I can do because they made me break policy to work on a machine that I wasn't supposed to work on in the first place?
Thanks in advance for any advice

the likelihood is that unless there is a contractual arrangment or policy that requires or gives you rights, you are an mployee at will, and as such you are out of luck, and out of a job.
