Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Invasion of Privacy Via Computer

Hi There,

I work for one the biggest companies in Mass. I was

doing some auditing on my PC and found out that my

boss was logging into my computer from his computer

without my permission. This was done by an explicit

logon with his username and password.

Is this a legal thing to do or do I have a nice case?

Thanks,--name removed--

Re: Invasion of Privacy Via Computer

There can be no invasion of privacy unless the computer is your personal computer that you left on your desk and you boss basically broke into it. If it's the company's computer, you have no privacy rights in it. There's no case at all. Some advice for the future: don't keep personal information or files on the company computer.
