is there a law for retaliation?

i was fired at a job after i was physically assaulted by another employee,pressed charges,found guilty but 2 days after boss started giving me a hard time and i end up fired.never had any problem previously at the job for almost 2 years.both boss and employee are white and i am black.please let me know if there is a case to get my job back?

I would need more information including the reason for termination. Your termination may have been racially motivated especially given the closeness in time to the guilty verdict and your termination. You also do not indicate whether the employee who assaulted you is still employed. You also may be able to claim a discharge in violation of public policy for exercising your right to bring criminal charge. If interested please call my office for a consultation
