Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Is it legal for a women to be paid less than a man for doing the same job?

I have been working for the same company for the last 10 years, about 3 years ago I was asked to switch positions with a male in the company, I was a customer service rep. and he was the purchasing agent. For the last 3 years I have been the purchasing agent, the problem is that when we switched jobs he stayed on salary and I was still paid hourly. If this position was a salary position when this gentleman had the job then shouldn't it still be salary when a female has this job?

Yes. Have you spoken to management? If they won't work it out with you, you can file a claim for sex discrimination and unequal pay at the Mass. Commission Against Discrimination. Some think you should have a lawyer rather than rely on the Commission/.
