Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Obligation & Compensation for a deposition

I have been deposed in Massachusetts for an employment issue. I now live in Tennessee. Do I have to attend, and, if so, should I be reimbursed for my travel expenses?

Re: Obligation & Compensation for a deposition

It depends on how you were served notice of the deposition, what you were served with to tell you to attend the deposition and, in part, your relationship to the parties. If you were served with a court order (a subpoena or summons), then you have to attend. In most instances, you are going to have to be reimbursed for your travel expenses. In fact, some rules of procedure require that the payment for travel accompany the order to attend.

You may want to contact the attorney who has requested your attendance at the deposition.
