Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Privacy

It came to my attention during a computer training session that by searching the ''Person Search Detail Form'' on the Banner System used by the college that an employee can have access to detailed and personal information of any and all employees of the college. This form includes the name, address, phone number, birthday, ss number and citizenship status-and can be printed. I questioned this practice via an e-mail to HR and was informed that ''Only employees of ---- are allowed access to this information...

I do not want ANY employee to have access to my personal information unless I agree to it for privacy/safety reasons. Please advise.

Re: Privacy

If the employer is a public/government agency, personnel information of the type you identified is available to the public. If not, it depends on who has access and for what purpose.
