Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Salaried employee that was not paid for sick time

I am a salaried employee at a company in Boston. The company policy states that I have 3 sicks days for the first year of employment. I have been here 9 months. I had used one sick day prior to be out sick for a week due to the flu. I was just informed that I will not be paid for the 3 days that I was out. Is there any recourse on my part? I am a salaried employee who does not qualify for overtime eventhough I work 10 hour days or more without a lunch break.

Did employer say why you will not be paid - could be something to do with your start date. As to whether or not you are entitled to overtime, the test is not just that you have a salary but that you have major independent decision making regarding how you do your job. Call the Wage and Hour Administration at the MA Attorney General's Office.
