Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Severance package

I work 100% for an offshore subsidiary, under its cost center but my residence and physical location are at the parent level. The sub is being closed and I will be out of work because of it. The severances packages are different and the offshore one is more attractive. Should I be entitled to the offshore one, given that I will be out of work as a direct consequence of the closing? How can I argue about it? The company's policy does not cover it.

Thanks

Re: Severance package

A company is not required to offer severence. If it does, it sets the terms. You can try and negotiate anything. Make an appointment with HR or your boss and present your case. Good luck.
