Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
My son Christopher started a new job in accounting 2 weeks ago. His first job in his field since he graduated college in May. He has not been trained in accounts payable which he was hired to do. Today he heard the second boss state to another employee" Christopher is so dumb I have him putting labels on boxes" and "everyone can pair up with someone but not Christopher" The boss was also laughing at him today while watching him put the labels on the boxes. Isn't this something like harassment or slander?

That sounds like a bad situation, but I don't see any legal claim or at least one he would want to pursue. He is just starting out in the work force and the last thing he should do is sue his employer two weeks into his career, especially for something I don't see any basis for recovery for. My advice is for him to do his best at his job and seek a meeting with his boss to see if he can get better feedback as to how he can improve. If it does not work out, he should start looking for a new job.
