Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

Suspended From Work

A month ago i was arrested for objectional noise and possession of a class D substance while i was on my lunch bread from work. I origionally told my manager that i was arrested because i had a warent in florida for an unpaid speeding ticket. my work found out what happened the next day, because it was published in the news paper. A month has passed, and now my work has place me on suspension, the told me i need to get documentation on why i was arested so they could submit it to their human resource department. What should i do? Is their anything wrong with what my work did by waiting a month to suspend me?

Re: Suspended From Work

Although an employer can not ask about arrests before hire, when a crime is committed while employed it is up to their discretion. If you are a member of a union, suspension for using drugs on lunch break may be grievable. Employer has right to request verification of arrest record.
