Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
Unemploymnet benefits denied
I was laid-off end of Sept '01 and was told by a couple of people including lawyers that as a International person I would not qualify for employment. I believed them and did not call. I took up a much lesser paying job over Christmas, which I left to train myself in my profession of product management to increase my chances of getting a job and also because I was being discriminated again at the job. In Jan'02 out of desperation I called unemployment and was pleasently surprised to know that I would qualify, but the claim was denied:
first company since I applied so late
second since I left on my own will and in writing they have that I left for training (my manager made sure that was the reason I gave. I did not know better)
My question: At the hearing do I stand a chance to make this right and what Sections I could use to make my case?
I would appreciate a response. Thank You

If you can show discriminatory behavior was real reason you left, you have a chance to win at hearing
