Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts

At will employment- terminated without cause, pregnant

I worked for a non profit organization, and was ''let go/laid off/terminated'' a month ago. My unemployment claim went through, but was then put on hold as my former employer is saying I was terminated. The Friday I was ''let go'', there was a lot going on in the office regarding ''justifying the position'' I was in, as it was part of a campaign. In the pulling of files and what not, my boss found an accounting error. I was pulled into the office five minutes before leaving, but told that my job would ''probably be fine'' and that I would be ''back to work Wednesday no issue.'' Well, the Tuesday before, I emailed my boss (I am 5 and a half months pregnant) and explained that if they were letting me go, that I would rather not drive in then drive home upset and pregnant. I received an email back stating my ''position was terminated.'' Then I received my last paycheck and a letter stating my ''employment had been terminated''. No cause was given. I had many problems with the company since becoming pregnant- they upped my workload and constantly had derrogative things to say about my pregnancy. I think that is the real reason I was let go. Do you think the DUI will see through them? Do I qualify for unemployment? I was given no cause.

I would be happy to speak to you for a free consulation. It sounds as though you may have a good discrimination claim. I have been assisting clients with discrimination matters for more than 10 years, and if I take your case, it would be on a contingency basis. You should not have a problem getting unemployment, and I would be happy to speak to you about that issue, as well.
