Legal Question in Employment Law in Massachusetts
where i currently work my position has been eliminated and i must sign a form in order to receive a severance pay. the for states i can't sue any current or former employers. I currently am perusing charges on the former director. does that mean i can't sign the form to receive my severance?

You should look at the proposed release very carefully, but likely the release would cover any claim against a former director of the company.
I would agree that you should give very careful consideration before signing any release. Since I don't know what you mean when you say "perusing charges on the former director", I don't know what it is you would be giving up. Generally, though, the company will be looking for you to waive rights to sue any prior, current (or even future) directors. Sometimes there is some room to negotiate the language of releases, but ... that is between you and the employer (or anyone who negotiates on your behalf). Otherwise, think very carefully about what "charges" you are "perusing" and what rights you may be forfeiting by signing the release.
Good luck.
Sincerely,
