The answer to your question depends somewhat on the specific facts of your situation. What type of tenancy did you have? Did the landlord handle your security deposit properly? Did you have a written lease? Did the written lease contain terms or requirements concerning termination of the tenancy?
Much more is needed before anyone can provide you with the specific guidance you are seeking. Please feel free to contact my office if you would like to schedule a consultation.
Retain an attorney as you may be entitled to triple damages and attorney's fees if landlord violated the security deposit law. Good Luck!
