Re: My apartment is Foreclosed

Assuming that you have no lease, you can be required to leave with a 30-day notice to quit, followed by a summary process eviction. Many attorneys charge about $500.00 to handle an eviction. Thus, you may not get a better offer.

Re: My apartment is Foreclosed

Who is attempting to give you $500.00 to leave in 30 days - your landlord or the foreclosing bank (the holder of the mortgage)?

Unfortunately, it appears that foreclosure terminates your lease (unless the mortgagee allows you to create a new tenancy at will).

If you wish to remain in the apartment, you should contact the foreclosing mortgagee (probably a bank), and see if they will allow you to pay them rent and take you on as a tenant.

However, did your landlord take from you a last month's rent? A security deposit? You are entitled to a return of these moneys.
