No apartment even after landlord deposits security deposit.

i paid security deposit(1month--name removed--rent) for new apt(new lease, same apt complex) from aug1,have a copy of proof that i paid this amt, but didn't yet sign the lease. Now they are saying they already rented out the apt to someone else,bcoz i didnt sign the lease papers yet, but they already deposited my security deposit 15days back.

If they deposited security deposit into a proper escrow account it should be held in trust for you with your SSN on the account and they can merely return it to you with any accumulated interest.

If they deposited it in an account in their name or you have been damaged in reliance on getting the appartment you should retain an attorney to discuss your remedies.
