I have a fiv month old and i founf out the apt i live in has lead paint can the landlord get in trouble for renting it to me knowing i had a child?

Yes, the landlord is strictly liable for any damages caused by the presence of lead paint in the leased premises, including health effects.

Lead paint poisoning is very serious, especially where children are concerned, and you should immediately make arrangements for alternate housing.

You should contact your local Board of Housing or Health, who can confirm the presence of lead in the home. Your landlord may not retaliate against you for reporting violations of the lead paint law.

If you believe there is any chance of exposure to the child, you may want to make an appointment with a doctor and then see a lawyer.
