Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

break lease illegal apartment

I need to break a lease that I signed for for a year. I found out the basement apartment is illegal.

Can I break the lease because of this with no consequences?

You should retain an attorney to review your lease an be absolutely sure the apartment is illegal. Good luck!
