Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

Charging a friends company for room and board while on business

I have a friend who comes to Mass periodically for business. Her company pays for a hotel stay, but she prefers to stay with me. She made the suggestion that I come up with an authentic bill that the company will pay. Short of running a B&B, is there a legal document I can use to charge her company for room and board that they will reimburse her for while she is here?

Re: Charging a friends company for room and board while on business

Why are you and your friend intending to defraud her company? Is she really going to give you the money you "charge?"

You may certainly legally charge room and board to a "guest." In so doing, you may well be violating the zoning designation of your home, and thus running afoul of some law or another on land use, but the charge has to be an honest and truthful one.

Otherwise, you and your friend are defrauding her employer. She can be fired and charged with a crime -- and you would then be an accomplice.
