Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts
eviction
My son is 22, mentally disabled and does not live here. He is non- medicated right now, refuses to take it. Does my Landlord have the right to tell him that he cannot come here, because he is disrespetful to me and my family. HE can be quite mean(hasn't hurt anyone). He lives in a shack and I let him over to eat and shower once in awhile. Is it my Landlords business that my son is disrespectful to us?? I am a month-month tenant in Ma, Lived here for 25 years and never late on the rent. Does he have the right to tell me that my son cannot visit me at my apartmenT?? Can he evict me if I continue to help my child??

Re: eviction
The landlord has a right to advise individuals that they may not come on the land, if they are disturbing other tenants or the landlord himself. You can be evicted for not following the reasonable regulations of the landlord for the safety and comfort of himself or his tenants. All tenants have a right to "quiet enjoyment," and a landlord has an obligation to take reasonable steps for the safety of tenants.
A court would be sympathetic to you in this case, but would have to decide the facts based on all of the testimony.
