Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

fraudulent checks received from tenant to landlord

We are within the Suffolk county in Massachusetts and have tenants renting our house in Pepperell MA. They owe us about 8000$ in back rent and have written 11 bad checks last year and have only paid 200$ out of 6000$ in rent this year (also have received bad checks this year). Is this a felony? Where can I make a legal complaint and is it something I can do as a citizen without a lawyer in the court?

Thank you very much.

Re: fraudulent checks received from tenant to landlord

You can go to the police where you live and swear out a criminal complaint.

You can go housing court (North Eastern) and seek eviction of the tenants and a judgment for the arrearage in rent. You do not have to use an attorney for summary eviction.

Good Luck.
