A Landlord can insist on Cash, but it is a violation of law not to provide a receipt. Likewise if you gave them a money order from a bank, they can not legally refuse the money order. Likewise, refusal of tender of payment in an assured form, cashier's check, money order is not permitted under law. Even if you give them a check, money order or cash, if you ask for a receipt the landlord is required to do so.
