Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts
My landlord wrote me a check to cover damaged furniture from mold in the apartment I was renting. I moved out. And immediately after moving, the landlords canceled the check. When I called to threaten legal action, they re-wrote the check but for a lesser amount saying that they miscalculated. we have a signed agreement noting the dollar value of the settlement. What can I do?

If the amount of the difference greatly exceeds the $2,000 small claims limit, you can retain an attorney to file a civil suit to enforce the written agreement if the landlord refuses the attornies demand efforts prior to suit. Good Luck.
