Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

late rental fee for Section 8 tenant

I submitted the question about my tenant being late with her rental payments but I did not tell you that my tenant was a Section 8 tenant. I want to charge a late fee so how would I go about this.

Re: late rental fee for Section 8 tenant

You should retain an attorney to review any past and proposed lease agreements and all agreements you have relative to the SECTION 8, to draft such language into the new lease as may be allowable under the law and your Section 8 agreement.

Re: late rental fee for Section 8 tenant

Section 8 has specific rules about late fees. You can go online and check the Section 8 rules. You may want to talk to the local section 8 office and see if they will pay you the rent directly at least as to their portion of the rent.

Otherwise, I suggest you contact an attorney to assist you with the lease.
