Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

i've been living in a 4 apt.house since 2009,april of 2012 will be the end of being in this apt.3yrs. i'm worried. i have a landlord that isn't fixing any of the problems in my apt & is behind 4plus grands on his morgage,his house bills,electric both for his apt.& house electric for halls,basement,water & sewer,and he's behind in his household bills. he's been taking rents From me apt. d & apt. a but apt. c is behind. my landlord been spending all he monies on street drugs And he's broke & post dating check s to get more .me And my partner are nervous that the bank will seize his building,we pay our rent and bills on time & we also have renters insurance But we have a lease till april,we don't what to do.

If you gave your landlord a security deposit, ask for the name of the bank and the account number and proof that the funds are there. He should be paying you the interest on the account each year. If he does not provide the information, then demand in writing by certified mail a return of your security deposit.

As to your lease, if the mortgage company takes over the property they have to honor the lease. Make sure you give your landlord only a check, any cash payments insist upon a receipt.
