Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

I made three small holes in the hallway at my old apartment and my landlord is charging me 500 per hole and refuse to pay 1500$ for 3 small holes, and the pictures i took got erased by acciden. Now that i moved out and want my mail hes holding my mail until i pay him. I need my mail but scared of the possibilities of going through a whole court case

Holding of your mails as a ransom amounts to tampering with U.S. Mail, which is illegal. You can file complaint against your former Landlord with U.S. Postal Inspection Service. Click on the link below for the complaint process:
