Thank you for your question.

A landlord (and tenant) may terminate a tenancy at will for any lawful reason or for no reason at all simply by providing one rental period's notice. If you are looking for more time in your apartment, and you can afford an attorney, you may have some defenses available to you which may buy you some time to look for a new apartment.

If you are being evicted for -no reason- then you may have the right to seek a stay of your eviction, so long as you are willing and able to stay current on rent. If there is a broken or unsafe door, you may want to contact the Inspectional Services to come out to the apartment and inspect for housing code violations.

You are most likely to acheive your goals if you have an attorney, and you are more than welcome to contact our office if you are seeking representation.
