Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

Question: I'll start off with I live in Quincy MA.. I've been renting a room from this gentalman since June of 2009. This gentalman I speak of leases a 2 bedroom. The managment found out that I was living here , in which I did not know that I was not to be living here because I am not on the lease. Now the managment wants me out and they have called the police telling them that they want me out. In result of this the police officer told me I have till the end of the day to get my belongings out and if I am not out by the end of the day I will be arrested for trespassing. Is this legal and do I have to leave by the end of the day? Thank you for taking the time to go over my question and respond to it. Looking foward to the answer (hopefully)

You should compile whatever evidence you have that you are a legitimate tenant and fax or deliver that to the police station.

If you are there with the knowledge of the landlord, and have evidence that you are paying him/her rent, then you ARE a tenant, and can only be evicted by order of the court.

Good luck.
