reason for appeal for not showing up

I took too many prescription drugs the morning of my court date and I didin't wake up until 9:47pm..should I tell the judge this was the reason? or am I putting myself at risk for being committed? I need to file the appeal today, please advise... can I say that I was sick? I was sick, had an incredible migraine at 4am so I took some prescriptions but they didnt work right away and I took more and before I knew it I was out like a light..

Retain an attorney to explain your reason for defaulting to the court, provided you have a reasonable defense to the action. Good Luck!
