Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

I have been renting 1/2 of a duplex for the last 1 1/2 years. My landlords have asked me to change my parking arrangements to accommodate newer tenants on the other side, as they have a small child to bring in and out to their vehicle. This change causes me to go from 4 parking spaces to 3, and to now have the need to move my family's cars around in the mornings/evenings to come and go. They have threatened to tow my car if we continue to park in the previous spaces. I agreed under duress, telling them I disagree with the request, but will go along to avoid being towed. Do they have the legal right to tow my car from the driveway? Do I have the legal right to refuse this change or ask for some kind of compensation for the inconvenience this causes my family?

Read your lease to see if there is anything in it that gives you rights to specific parking spaces. Good Luck!

Attorney Murray hit the nail on the head - read your lease. If it is not in the lease, I would assume that if two units have to share 4 parking spaces, then that means each unit gets 2 parking spaces.
