Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Massachusetts

I currently reside in a duplex apartment and our lease states that we are responsible for snow removal. However, in doing research the past few days, I have discovered that the law was changed in July to place the responsibility on the landlord. Does this modify our rights as tenants? Our neighbors REFUSE to do any manual labor and we continue to be the ONLY ones who will shovel. 5 storms later of 12+ inches, I'd say it's time for the landlord to do something other than provide shovels and ice melt right??
