tenant stays in the hotel

my tenant stayed in the hotel when there is no electricity or hot water in the apartment. He want me to pay the cost. Am I responsible for the expenses?

Technically, the tenant would be allowed to deduct the reasonable costs of locating shelter while the leased premises were rendered uninhabitable.

Lack of electricity and hot water are major violations of the state housing code, and the tenant can reasonably request reimbursement - and maybe even more. In some situations, the tenant may even deduct the difference between the premises as promised (with electricy & hot water) and as the premises as delivered (w/o electricity & hot water). You are better off sending a check.
